Video: 26-year-old mahout crushed by elephant in Kerala; dies later

A 26-year-old lost his life after he was crushed by an elephant during a temple festival in Kerala’s Kottayam district.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms. It occurred on April 3 during a religious ceremony at TV Puram Sreerama Swami temple in Vaikom.

Visuals show the elephant named Kunjulakshmi sitting as a person climbs onto her. When she stands up, the elephant suddenly goes berserk and crushes Aravind, shocking everyone.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries later. It is learnt that Aravind was serving as the elephant’s mahout for a month.
