Telangana to host 72nd edition of Miss World pageant from May 7 to 31

The new winner will be crowned by Krystyna Pyszkova from Czech Republic, the winner of the 71st edition of the Miss World pageant in 2024.

Hyderabad: The 72nd edition of Miss World pageant is being planned to be held in Telangana from May 7 to 31, as announced on Wednesday, February 19, by Julia Morley, chairperson and CEO of Miss World Ltd alongside Smita Sabharwal, principal secretary to tourism, culture, heritage and youth affairs.

The opening ceremony and the grand finale of the pageant will be held in Hyderabad, whereas events will also be held in other destinations of the state.

The new winner will be crowned by Krystyna Pyszkova from Czech Republic, the winner of the 71st edition of the Miss World pageant in 2024.

The prestigious Miss World Festival will bring together participants from over 120 countries and territories, competing not only for the coveted title but also to champion meaningful causes aligned with the Miss World Organisation’s mission of ‘Beauty with a Purpose.’

Smita Sabharwal said that the platform will showcase the rich handloom legacy, spectacular destinations, scrumptious cuisine, art-forms and crafts of timeless Telangana.

 “Hosting the 72nd Miss World Festival is to tell the world that Telangana is ready—ready to showcase its spirit, its warmth, and its boundless potential,” she added.

As the state prepares to host this grand spectacle, Telangana extends an invitation to the world with the tag-line ‘Telangana, Zarur Aana,’ where beauty finds its truest meaning.

Nandini Gupta, the winner of Femina Miss India World 2023 will be representing India in this year’s Miss World pageant.

Till now, 6 Indians have won the prestigious Miss World title- Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yuktsa Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).
