Hyderabad: A man pushed his girlfriend to death under a speeding heavy vehicle in Bachupally area of the city on Sunday, August 06, police said.
Police have identified the accused as Tirupathi, a cab driver residing in Kondapur. He developed close relationship with the victim, B Pramila, after her husband died two years ago. Pramila worked as a saleswoman at a showroom in the city. Both of them were natives of same village in Kamareddy district.
The victim had been insisting on getting married, to which Tirupathi had agreed. On Sunday, Tirupathi called Pramila to meet him at Bachupally.
“Pramila arrived at the designated place and met Tirupathi. She asked him about their marriage and Tirupathi said they will get married after two or three months. The victim, however, insisted that they get married on the same day,” said Suman Kumar, SHO Bachupally.
Both of them ended up quarreling on the road after which Tirupathi was left the spot. “Pramila followed him and both of them started quarrelling again. Upon noticing a water tanker coming in the opposite direction, he pushed the woman in front of it. The water tanker ran over the victim and she died on the spot,” the SHO added.
A case has been registered against Tirupathi, who has been absconding.
